David Powell is a Mechanical Engineer with the SURVICE Engineering Company. He earned a B.A. in Engineering from Dartmouth College and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley. He held post-doctoral research positions at both Stanford University and at the University of California, San Francisco. While at UCSF, Dr. Powell worked with a neurosurgery group at San Francisco General Hospital and developed numerical models for cerebral arteries. Before joining SURVICE he was with the principal investigator for Soft Armor and Fiber Composite Modeling for Soldier Protection at the U.S. Army Research Laboratory. While at ARL he also worked closely with the biomechanics modeling group on projects involving both the spine and brain.
