What non-contact methods are used to measure cured or uncured adhesive bond primer thicknesses?

DSIAC was asked if there are any new options available for non-contract thickness measurements of a “mostly transparent” adhesive primer. It was preferred that the solution is handheld, but a desktop device was deemed to be acceptable. DSIAC subject matter experts from Texas Research Institute Austin drew upon their extensive experience in non-contacting and non-destructive measurements to provide answers and insight on this topic.
