What methods or technologies are available for the standoff detection of explosive hazards?

The Defense Systems Information Analysis Center (DSIAC) received a technical inquiry requesting reports and studies regarding the remote detection of explosive hazards, as well as any reliability or test data on the aforementioned systems. DSIAC performed literature searches in the DTIC Research and Engineering Gateway and using open sources to compile a summary of standoff detection systems and find any related test data. DSIAC also reached out the military test operators a Yuma Proving Grounds (YPG) and Aberdeen Proving Grounds (APG) for points of contact for further data dissemination. A summarized report with an appendix for further reading was delivered to the inquirer.
