What are the recommended test standards and procedures for conducting armor penetration testing of shaped charge warheads into rolled homogeneous armor (RHA) steel blocks for evaluation of weapon systems?

DSIAC conducted a literature search on DTIC’s R&E Gateway to identify two of the most-up-to-date International Test Operations Procedures (ITOP) reports on the topics of ballistic testing and vulnerability testing; each contained information to answer the bulk of the requester’s question.  The requester further asked for information regarding how to connect (or not) multiple RHA plates during testing – is there a difference in penetration if the plates are welded or simply placed flush beside one another?  DSIAC reached out to a subject matter expert on shaped charge jets to provide input on the question.  A bibliography was delivered to the inquirer.
