What is the impact of a new UAV detection and defeat system?

DSIAC staff, in conjunction with the Information Analysis Center (IAC) Special Operations Command (SOCOM) Field Science & Technology Adviser (FSA), identified a newly developed unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) detection and defeat system that shows promise for cooperative operation with current improvised explosive device (IED) defeat systems and/or for use as a stand-alone combined IED / UAV defeat system.  The developer was contacted to obtain a detailed data sheet and white paper, which were provided to the Joint Improvised-Threat Defeat Organization (JIDO).  JIDO subsequently requested additional information on U.S. Government (USG) conducted testing and SOCOM interest in acquisition and/or testing.  DSIAC then coordinated with the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and SOCOM to obtain and provide additional information to JIDO on previous and upcoming USG testing, SOCOM (and partner nation) intent to test, and an invitation for JIDO to observe upcoming testing.
